Frequently Asked Questions
Is VPX an auction site?
No. Offers are private and are not public bids.
Does VPX guarantee a sale or transfer?
No. Listing and accepting an offer do not guarantee payment or government approval. The applicable government agency makes the final eligibility and issuance decision.
Is it free to list?
Yes. Creating and publishing an approved listing is free. VPX's current seller service fee is 10% of the agreed sale price for an eligible transaction.
What documentation is required?
A seller adds a real plate photo and a registration document associated with the plate. VPX may request corrections or more information during review.
Can the public see my registration?
No. Registration documents are collected for review and are not displayed on public listings.
What is seller verification?
A confirmed email allows a seller to create a listing. Email confirmation is not listing approval and is not a VPX Verified badge.
Does admin approval make a listing VPX Verified?
No. Admin review can publish a listing, but a VPX Verified badge is shown only when the listing is separately marked verified. Neither status guarantees ownership, sale, or transfer approval.
What does listing review mean?
VPX review determines whether a seller-submitted listing can be published. It is not a guarantee of ownership, sale, authenticity, or transfer approval.
How do offers work?
A buyer can make a private offer on an eligible live listing. The seller can accept, counter, or decline. An offer does not itself complete a sale.
How do payments work?
After a price is agreed and the transaction is eligible, the buyer pays through private Stripe Checkout. Marketplace listings do not have public checkout.
How is the seller paid?
The seller completes Stripe-hosted payout setup. Expected proceeds equal the agreed price minus the recorded VPX service fee, subject to the transaction and payout conditions shown.
What if the transfer cannot be completed?
Stop and contact VPX. Payment, refund, cancellation, and transfer status are handled through the applicable transaction workflow and policies. Do not arrange an off-platform workaround.
Can every personalized plate be transferred?
No. Rules vary significantly by state and plate type. Review current government requirements before buying or selling.
Can I remove or change a listing?
Sellers can manage draft and eligible active listings through their signed-in listing area. Some fields and statuses may be locked once a transaction is underway.
